Gaelic Rings

Cearcall na Gaidhlig is a tourism marketing initiative to encourage greater utilisation of the public transport infrastructure linking the Hebridean Islands and the Scottish mainland, and the visitor accommodation in the communities. It will focus on the unique cultural heritage themes of the area and the Gaelic language.

The aim is to generate additional economic activity in the island communities by marketing a number of rings, which will link Gaelic heritage, arts and language centres via our improving transport infrastructure.

The project is based on taking advantage of a number of opportunities:

  • On-going improvement to transport infrastructure making it easier to move within and between the islands and the mainland.

  • Better integration of public transport services and national policy to increase their usage.
  • Visitors’ increasing concern to develop their own themed tours.
  • Gaelic culture is of growing interest and National policy is to make Gaelic culture accessible.
