HITRANS welcomes the announcement of the award of the ScotRail franchise to Abellio.
Cllr James Stockan, Chair of HITRANS, said:
“It is very pleasing to see all the work that HITRANS has put in over the last few years coming to fruition in the award of the new rail franchise. High Speed Trains on Inverness-Central Belt and Inverness-Aberdeen, with enhanced on-board facilities and improved frequency will greatly improve the passenger experience, while dedicated scenic trains on our rural routes will meet the ever increasing expectation for a quality tourist product. We also look forward to working with Abellio on developing Inverness Station so that it meets the requirements of today, and can cope with the demands of the future.”
